I don't want this behavior.
Sometimes I use a thread for posting news/updates in my software (this is forum about a software), and when the thread gets too big, I need to delete the most old posts (the first ones), and because of that today I accidentaly deleted the whole thread.

But then the thread author would change to some arbitrary person, it would confuse most people if the thread author suddenly changed. Say you posted a thread, someone replied and posted 'Nice.', if the first post was then deleted, the first post in the thread would then be 'Nice.', and that makes no sense and will just confuse people.
This is how it works and won't be changed, if you don't want it to happen, you'll need to request a plugin. Why not just make a new thread?? o.O

Threads don't get 'too big' so you don't have to delete the oldest post(s). Often, with forums, the first post of the thread is what sets the topic of all the other posts. So if for your name changes thread you made the first post say "These are the people's names that have been changed..." and then in another post list the name changes. :)

In this thread only I am (administrator) allowed to make posts.
I want only 1 thread to make the forum clean. This one thread usually holds latest 20-30 posts. When the old posts become too old I want to remove them.

Thank you, that solution would work (having the first post as "dummy post")
I wanted to delete the first posts because they are too old, and not any longer valid.
However it still would be nice to have an option to remove the old posts (including first) without accidentaly removing the whole thread.
Thank you
